As a member you will be able to choose and contact your potential car-share partner with similar travel patterns from your own organisation or any other companies. Through your private car-share account you will also be able to link into the national scheme to search for a possible match with a suitable journey buddy.

The system is provided by liftshare in partnership with Teddington Travel to Work Network. Liftshare runs the UK's largest car-sharing network of over 350,000 members.

The success of the network depends on you! The more people that join the network, the more likely it will be that you can find a partner to share your car with.

There are 5 easy steps to get started:

  1. Register online here
  2. Enter your journey details
  3. Search for other drivers or passengers to share your journey with from within your organisation, any other Teddington organisation or the whole area
  4. View the profile of other drivers and passengers
  5. Decide whether to make contact with a suggested matched

Once you are registered you will have the option to search for your preferred car-share partner (e.g. females, drivers over 25 etc.). You will then be able to make contact through the system without giving away your personal details.

The car of the future will be shared!

Teddington car share network officially launched during Liftshare week!

During the first national Liftshare Week at the beginning of October, the Teddington Network Car Share Scheme was officially launched, with 7 on-site promotional events, covering staff from 9 organisations. Events were held at NMO, St Mary's University College, NPL, NHS Richmond's Thames House, Tearfund, LGC and Haymarket. Staff from Amey and Pinewood Group were also able to attend the events. The week was a resounding success with 157 people registered on the system and many more receiving registration postcards and information on the scheme.

Of course, we hope that all member organisations will continue to promote the scheme to their staff, so that the database continues to grow, increasing the opportunities for members to find car share "matches". In order to widen the potential staff base further, other Teddington organisations will be invited to join the scheme at the next network meeting.

The SWELTRAC team will shortly be identifying potential car share "matches" from the current member base and contacting those people, anonymously, through the Liftshare system to encourage dialogue.

Every "team" of people officially car sharing through the system by the end of October will be entered into a draw to win £50 of John Lewis vouchers! This competition will be repeated monthly until January.
