All change, please

On the 15th–19th March 2010, the City of London will launch a free competition encouraging people across London to reduce their carbon footprint. It will be a great way to get offices engaged and educated about sustainability and climate change. Each day every player must gain a carbon credit, for example taking the stairs instead of the lift, riding their bike to work etc. After an individual completes a sustainable action he/she will be able to play. There will be two winners, one will receive a new bicycle from Condor and the other will receive an eco holiday in Cornwall. You can register for the competition here and please contact Jenette Coduto (email or phone 020 7332 1811) at the City of London for marketing materials and further information.

Cycle Superhighways

This summer, London’s first Cycle Superhighways are being launched and businesses located on or near these routes may be eligible for free support from TfL to help get their staff moving!
Superhighways will provide safe, fast and direct cycling routes between central and outer London.  The Cycle Superhighways project aims to:

Merton to the City (via Wandsworth, Lambeth and Southwark) is one of the first two routes to be created. For further information and to view some artist's impressions of the Superhighways, visit the TfL website

NHS pool cycle kits

SWELTRAC is responsible for facilitating the South & West London NHS Travel Plan Network. We have recently distributed some Subregional Group Funding to the members, with the majority allocated to pool cycling equipment for 5 trusts. These kits contained 2 high visibility waterproof jackets, waterproof trousers, a pump, puncture repair kits, a multitool and some chain lubricant. These kits are aimed to allow NHS staff to do basic repairs and maintenance on their bikes and to encourage use of bikes for work. We will be providing feedback on these kits in the near future.
