Travel Plans Newsletter - Issue 13
Happy New Year and welcome to the 13th issue of the SWELTRAC Travel Plans Newsletter! One year on from the first edition of this newsletter, SWELTRAC and travel planning in London has seen some major changes. These changes will, ultimately, result in organisations taking ownership of their travel plans and having sole responsibility for its ongoing impact and monitoring. The travel plan should always belong to the company, and the long-term success of the plan can only be affected internally. If you would like to discuss your travel plan or get assistance with a survey and/or review, please see below.
Changes to the Travel Plan "Team"
As reported in the last newsletter, both Jakub and Kevin left SWELTRAC over the Christmas period to take on exciting new roles elsewhere. This has left a Travel Plan Team of one: Nick. Please be aware that Jakub's and Kevin's email accounts and phone numbers will shortly be disabled so any future communication with SWELTRAC should be directly to Nick on 020 8487 5364 or nicholas.bailey@richmond.gov.uk.
Assistance with your review - before it's too late!
The next couple of months are likely to be your last opportunity to receive the same level of hands-on support with your travel survey and travel plan review. You will receive a bespoke online/paper survey, incentive voucher, full analysis of the results and a review and update of your travel plan document. This could be followed by provision of promotional merchandise, travel information and/or a Dr Bike session, depending on your needs. To ensure that your travel plan is completely relevant and up-to-date, please get in touch as soon as possible.
Make a resolution to be more active
Has the New Year's resolution to go to the gym every day already fallen by the wayside in your busy schedule? Still feeling that you need to work off some of that Christmas chocolate? Want to rid yourself of the January blues? Well, why not build exercise into your daily routine by walking, cycling or even jogging to work and encourage your staff to do the same? Puncture repair kits, high-viz snap wraps, maps and a variety of other merchandise is available for FREE to any organisation committed to promoting active travel to staff. Contact Nick for more information.
ACT Travelwise Conference 2010
Back in early December, Nick and Kevin attended the ACT Travelwise Autumn Conference in Liverpool. This was an excellent opportunity to network with others in the profession and learn about some of the newest ideas in the world of sustainable transport. To view the presentations and papers from the conference, please click here.
Take a Stand
Finally, businesses are still eligible for free Sheffield cycle stands, available from Transport for London. If you are interested in installing some stands at your workplace and would like more information, please get in touch.
